What is Going on in Big Orange Country

The University of Tennessee football program took a major blow (no pun intended) when wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers was suspended for numerous failed substance abuse test. Dooley and Co will have to replace his 9 TDs and 1000 yards receiving. All World, Justin Hunter is back, how back we will soon see. Hunter who tore his ACL in the Florida game last year missed the Olympics this summer (world class hurdler) because of the injury and he may not be the same deep treat he once was.

The suspension of Rodgers does hurt the Vols potent offense but not as much as people may think. First, Hunter even at 90% is the best wide out in college football at 6'4 he is a gazelle with hands. The Volunteers also have highly recruited Corarrelle Patterson 6'3 215 a Jr College transfer from Kansas and healthy TE Mychal Rivera who many believe is better than Jason Witten was at this stage of their careers. The Vols also have Zach Rodgers who is a very capable wide receiver who runs great routs and has sure hands. Knoxville fans will get a chance to see home grown Cody Blanc who has now moved up the depth chart.

The Vols will have Heisman candidate Tyler Bray back from injuries as well, from all reports Bray and his 6'5 frame is up for the task of leading the Volunteers to the top of the very talented SEC East. Bray who has been compared to another 6'5 former Vol has a rocket for an arm and his accuracy is not in question.

Bray will also have Rajion Neal to hand the ball off to and look for the speedy Neal to run to daylight. Neal will have an offensive line that maybe bigger than some NFL teams. Four starters return who have over 80 games under their belt.

I look for Bray and company to put points on the checker board, the big question is will the Vols defense be able to stop the likes of Florida and Alabama. Tomorrow, I will report on the state of the Volunteer Defense, Special Teams and my thoughts on how the Volunteers will fair.

Lets Go Vols!
